Thanks for a fantastic holiday, we have all thoroughly enjoyed our stay
here.
We have ridden trails never seen before in our home country of Norfolk, UK.
You have been the perfect hosts and the food has been extremely good.

The horseback rides in summer are in the mornings only. Due to hot weather
and bug season which can be a distress for our horses in the afternoons,
the horseback rides are in the mornings, because the well-being of our
horses is important to us. Guests love to spend hot afternoons at nearby
Crimson Lake with its beach and pine tree shore, or go on a trip towards
the mountains, visit the nearby historic site with fur trader history, go
shopping at unique western and art shops in Rocky Mountain House or visit
country teahouses or "old western towns" (trips by own car or rental car).
There are hiking trails at Crimson Lake and Twin Lake and mountain hiking
1hour drive West of the ranch.
The horseback rides will be around 3 hours in summer and some lunch rides
in spring and fall. We show you how to saddle your horse, introduce you to
horsemanship and western riding and take you on horseback rides through
thick bush, trot on wider trails and lope along dirt roads. Our well
trained, responsive horses (Paint, Quarter and Appaloosa) work well for
experienced riders or riders with some trail riding experience and a sense
of adventure. We do have approved riding helmets available or wear your
cowboy hat as a protection from weather and branches. Minors (up to 18)
will have to wear a riding helmet. All riders will be asked to sign a
waiver form before any horse activities or canoeing. If you would like to
see a copy of the waiver form before your arrival, send us a note upon
your booking.
What to bring: boots, a cowboy hat or baseball cap, gloves, long
sleeved shirts for horseback riding; a rain jacket, bug repellent, sun
screen. Approved riding helmets for minors or we do have them available
for you.
Beverages: we serve water, ice tea, hot tea and coffee. You may
bring your own alcoholic beverages and pop. There is a fridge in each
room.
Canoeing
- Rates
The canoe trips on
nearby Twin Lake and on calm Clearwater River are possible throughout the
summer (half-year). There is no experience necessary for the lake and we
provide 2-3 person canoes, life jackets, instruction and guidance. There
is a little experience required for the Clearwater River trip.
You may
add to packages A, B, C or D:
Canoeing on Twin Lake $ 40.- per person (plus 5%GST) - leaving
the ranch in the afternoon for two hours canoeing on nearby scenic lake.
Paddle around the lake, watch for loons and ducks, come back to the dock
and practice your strokes sitting alone in the canoe or change places with
your canoeing partner.
You may
add to lodge stay packages B and D:
Canoeing on
Clearwater River $ 90.- per person (plus 5%GST) - leaving the
ranch after breakfast, paddle for about two hours on calm and scenic
Clearwater River, having lunch on an island (campfire) and take a dip in
the water (rather cold river water), another good hour of paddling after
the lunch break and returning to the ranch in the late afternoon.
NOTE guest booking the horse
back riding packages A or C may include canoeing on Clearwater
River at no additional cost. Since we leave right after breakfast
for the canoe trip, there won't be time to go horseback riding as well.
